Researching the time and events from the ancient past to a modern time, this cultural walking tour focuses on the highlights of the city's historic core: Belgrade Fortress and Kalemegdan Park, The Patriarchate, unique 'Question Mark' tavern, ancient city's artery -lively Knez Mihajlova Street, elegant Republic Square with National Theater and National Museum, and much more! One of the best sentences I've found about Belgrade - the "White City" is that it is an "unusual mosaic made by centuries of overlapping civilizations". During a pleasant walk in the heart of the city, we will travel back and forth through time, discovering together this "museum in the open", a beautiful mosaic, shaped by the interaction of various, often antagonistic civilizations. As a descendant of families living in Belgrade since the 19th century, I developed a deep understanding of this important geopolitical crossroads. My mission, and at the same time my passion, is to bring its complexity and uniqueness closer to the audience.
KALEMEGDAN PARK AND BELGRADE FORTRESS: - Stambol Gate - Open-air exhibition of the Military Museum - Clock Gate - Upper town of Belgrade Medieval City with King's Tower and Zindan Gate - Rose Church of Our Lady - Splendid views of the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers - Victor Monument OLD TOWN: - French and Austrian Embassies - Patriarchate - the Seat of the Serbian Orthodox Church - Belgrade Cathedral - Princess Ljubica's Residence - Famous '?' Inn, with the peculiar name (yes, the question mark is the name) and two centuries of existence. - National Bank of Serbia - Stroll down the pedestrian Knez Mihajlova street which is the oldest street in Belgrade - Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts building - Republic Square with the National Theater and National Museum - Monument to Prince Michael (Knez Mihajlo) Additional ideas or specific interests? Great. Feel free to contact me if you would like to customize this tour!
