I will meet you at your hotel (in Paris) and will be with you for a 3 hours walking tour, which is enough to cover either the historical Paris (old center, Notre Dame, Marais, Pompidou, Latin Quarter, both islands) or the more recent and famous monuments (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Palais Royal, Invalides, Concorde, Champs Elysées, Opera). We can also meet at Metro station "Saint Paul". My focus is more on the beauty of the city and fun annecdotes rather than on pure historical facts and dates. Revolution, Romans, WWII, and Kings are of course part of the tour, but not at the center of it. We'll stop at a nice Parisian café for an expresso or if you prefer and if weather permits, for a refreshing ice-cream. You control the tour! I usually start the tour with a quick discussion: What have you seen so far? What section of the city are you the most interested in? Historical center? Shopping areas? Western more recent Haussmann-style buildings. . . ? In three hours, we can focus on one or two neighborhoods, for example: - We can see both islands, - the Marais Jewish area, - and the Latin Quarter. This option allows to talk about our history: Revolution, Noblemen, Middle-ages, famous kings, Romans settlers, beheadings and Marie-Antoinette. As we browse through history, we also see beautiful monuments such as: - Notre Dame, - Place des Vosges, - Hotel de Ville, - Luxembourg Gardens, - Pantheon, - Sorbonne University, - Sainte Chapelle and - Saint-Germain-des-Pres church. Lots of photo opportunities and food stops along the way!
