Overview of your Warsaw tour:

Before WWII broke out, Warsaw with its 1. 3 million inhabitants had been a city full of hustle and bustle and was sometimes called "Paris of the North" for its classy elegance. In January 1945, after the German occupiers turned it into a sea of ruins, only 162. 000 inhabitants remained. No other city suffered so much and for so long. Being passionate of WWII and of the beloved city I was born in, I will show you where the first bombs fell in 1939 and how Warsaw defended itself heroically but in vain. You'll see the infamous spots of German nazi terror and learn about the cruel methods the aggressors used to subdue the local population. We'll travel back in time to see the bravery but also ingenuity of the resistance fighters. We'll visit the remnants of the Warsaw ghetto that witnessed the tragedy of over 400. 000 Jewish citizens. Finally we'll follow the traces of the Warsaw Rising and its episodes of bravery and defeat, plus you'll understand why the arrival of the Red Army was not a real liberation.

Your Warsaw tour itinerary

·After either an arranged pick-up or a meet-up in the suggested point, we'll start with a visit to the terrifying infamous Gestapo seat and prison at Szucha Alley. ·We'll then move up Ujazdowskie Alley as I share the story of daring resistance operations, including one of the first attempts on Hitler's life. ·Next, we'll explore key spots of the former Warsaw ghetto and see archaeological excavations that bring part of the city that disappeared back to life. You'll see the spots connected with Wladyslaw Szpilman shown in "The Pianist", famous Polanski film. ·Later we'll stroll by the Old Town to find out where the glorious and tragic events of Warsaw Rising took place as I tell you about the inventiveness of both insurgents and the Germans in finding new military ways for city warfare. ·We'll finish at Pilsudski Square to sum up how WWII impacted Warsaw as it is today. This itinerary can be customized depending on your time and interests. I can perform the tour in English, German, French or Russian.
